Uniting Medical and Sports Experts: Celebrating the World Heart Day 2024
CVREP in partnership with Wadi El Neel Hospital and Africa Health ExCon, hosted a remarkable celebration for the World Heart Day 2024 under the theme “One Beat.” On Thursday 26th of September held at Marriott Zamalek the event aimed to raise awareness of heart health across Egypt. This significant initiative took place under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population.
With over 200+ attendees, including notable experts from the medical and sports sectors, the event brought together a unique combination of health professionals, decision-makers, and former athletes. Sports club officials, representatives from various sports federations, and iconic figures from the football world also graced the occasion.
Attendees were able to discuss the latest advancements in cardiovascular care, including prevention strategies, treatment innovations, and the creation of solutions for healthcare challenges across Egypt and the region. A key component of the event was raising awareness about sudden cardiac death.
Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El Din, the President’s Advisor for Health Affairs, praised the event, highlighting how important it is to raise awareness about heart health, especially for young people and athletes. He also mentioned the “100 Million Healthy Lives initiative”, a program led by H.E. Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President the Arab Republic of Egypt, which focuses on the early detection and treatment of health issues, greatly boosting public health awareness in recent years.
General Dr. Bahaa El Din Zidan, Head of the Unified Procurement Authority, emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting all organizations that work to improve healthcare for both citizens and athletes. He stressed that good health is a key foundation for sustainable development.

- Approaches to identifying and treating life-threatening heart disorders in athletes.
- The importance of ensuring public spaces and institutions is equipped to deal with sudden cardiac arrests.

Dr. Hazem Khamees, Director of Nile Valley Hospital, expressed that this event represents a milestone in raising public awareness about heart diseases, urging everyone, including athletes, to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Dr. Mohamed Sobhi, President of the Cardiovascular Scientific Foundation, concluded by highlighting the importance of collaboration between experts and government officials to overcome global healthcare challenges.
